Writing Proposals for Funded Research Projects

Writing a grant proposal for research is a challenging task that differs significantly from writing a scientific paper. In India, funding opportunities are scarce, and the number of funding bodies is limited. Many industries do not support university research. In some countries, such as the US, China, and Europe, more than 90% of research publications originate from funded research projects, whereas in India, the figure stands at less than 5%. At the same time, opportunities exist for internationally funded research projects and international collaborative programs. Most Indian academics are unaware of these programmes and stand as isolated entities in the networked research landscape.
The primary goals of this programme are: 1. Make known that funding opportunities exist. 2. How to build research networks across countries? and 3. How to write structured proposals? What are the crucial differences between research papers and project proposals? How should the proposals be shaped? What are the criteria used by funding bodies to accept proposals? These components will be addressed in the forthcoming training workshop on Writing Proposals for Funded Research Projects.
